- The prize is open to any member of the University (including undergraduates, postgraduates and alumni), staff and faculty of the colleges and the University who will be under 30 years of age on the closing date of Sunday 12 October 2008. ('University' is to be understood as any part of the University with an entry in the latest University telephone directory.)
- Each person may submit only one entry for the prize.
- Submissions may be presented in any medium as long as they are capable of being judged remotely by somebody with access to a multi-media PC, e.g. an essay*, poem*, short story*, opera^, play^, film^, computer game^, etc. Entrants proposing to use multi-media formats must indicate at registration what technology and software they propose.

^ Maximum length, 20 minutes - No responsibility is accepted for entries that are not received by Sunday 12 October 2008, or for entries contained in files that are corrupted or otherwise unreadable. No acknowledgement of receipt will be provided.
- The prize is promoted by the Oxford Saïd Business School Ltd and Green Templeton College (currently Templeton College). Entrants agree that the personal data that they provide when they enter the competition, and their submissions, names and photographs may be used by Oxford Saïd Business School Ltd, the Saïd Business School, Oxford, Green Templeton College and Oxford University for the promotion of the Oxford Strategic Leadership Programme and any publicity material associated with the prize, as well as by the judges for the purposes of the prize. Entrants agree that if they are selected as finalists their names may be provided to other entrants as set out in rule 11 below.
- Finalists will be interviewed by members of the Oxford Leadership Prize Board. The Board reserves the right not to call for finalists if no entries are of sufficient merit.
- Interviews and the Prize reception for finalists will take place on Thursday 20 November 2008.
- The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into in relation to the prize.
- Submissions may be collaborative but they must be the original previously unpublished work of the entrant or entrants and all the entrants jointly and severally agree to their work being treated as a single entry. If a joint entry is selected as a finalist the entry may be disqualified unless all the entrants attend the interview. The person who completes the Registration Form is responsible for drawing these rules to the attention of the other joint entrants. If a joint entry wins the prize, the prize money will be paid to the person who completed the Registration Form.
- Entrants must register before Monday 30 June 2008. Candidates will be issued with an application form and registration number which must accompany all final submissions. Candidates accept that the copyright release included is legally binding. For all matters concerning registration the decision of the Director of the Oxford Strategic Leadership Programme is final.
- Entrants may obtain a list of the names of the finalists and the winner of the prize by sending an email to leadership-prize@sbs.ox.ac.uk by 30 November 2008.
- English law applies to the prize competition and the interpretation of these rules.
