The Oxford Leadership Prize

Nigel Pont

Nigel Pont is a relief and development expert who has played a leadership role in many of the major humanitarian crises of the past decade including Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Aceh. He was born in Iran, grew up in Pakistan and has worked in developing countries for all of his professional life. Since August 2006 he has been Country Director for the development agency Mercy Corps in Afghanistan, with responsibility for all aspects of Mercy Corps' agricultural development and microfinance program portfolio implemented by a team of over 400 staff in 8 insecure provinces.
