Gareth Ackerman

Gareth Ackerman’s expertise is built on many years of industry experience across multi-levels and aspects of the retail industry, Family Business, Investment, Philanthropy and Consulting. Having read a BSocSci degree at the University of Cape Town, he completed a CMS in Family Business at Oxford. He is currently Chairman of Pick ‘n Pay Holdings Limited (Pikwik) and sits on all the group’s Board committees. He is a board member for a number of companies and a trustee of Foundations and Trusts and Chairs the Ackerman/Pick ‘n Pay Foundations. He is executive chairman and co-founder of Pleiad Capital, and as such is very involved with Pleiad’s Private Equity investments and Corporate Finance and Strategic Consulting advisory activities. He is also actively involved with the Young Presidents Organisation. He Chairs the Summit Committee of CIES the World Food Forum and sits on its Board. He is an Associate Fellow of the Oxford Saïd Business School. He is a speaker at international retail conferences and a regular lecturer at various universities.
